We would like to Welcome Deepak Koul as our esteemed speaker for Global Testing Retreat #ATAGTR2019
Deepak Koul is a Quality Engineering Manager in Red Hat. He is also the local organizer for Ministry of Testing, Pune meetups. He likes to deal with software quality problems at a psychological level.
Deepak Koul is our esteemed speaker for #ATAGTR2019.
Deepak will be taking a hands on Lab Session on “Building a scalable, self healing selenium docker grid on openshift.” – Track 5 on Day 1
Selenium- Browser version incompatibility has been a major thorn in the flesh of test automation developers. In this hands on Labs session, we will help the participants deploy selenium docker grid on kubernetes based openshift PaaS and use the inbuilt horizontal scaling to increase browser nodes for reliable test automation infrastructure.
We will also demonstrate adding health checks for the browser nodes and parallel execution of demo selenium tests on this infrastructure.
We had posted some questions to Deepak as a part of her #ATAMyStory
1. Why should someone choose testing as a career ? Or What does testing really mean to you ?
There is no concept of a consumable software without testing. In the end a software system is all about human computer interaction and therefore a human validating its quality is the best thing in this whole process. As a career, it is as vast and fulflling as any other engineering stream.
2. While practice makes all of us perfect, share an everyday practice that has made things better for you at wor?
Dealing with ambiguity : Everyday, we as engineers face ambiguity – It can be a badly written acceptance criteria, poorly documented softwares or any other thing. In all those cases we can take the ambiguity head on or look for the easier alternatives. My suggestion is to stop doing ambiguity aversion and take it on.
3. The most challenging bug or issue that I have found and learnings from it ? Or The most challenging testing task that I have done and how I accomplished the same?
I rewrote the whole test automation testsuite in ruby-cucumber in 2 weeks which a software services vendor wrote badly in in 8 months.
